Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, Illinois, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to improve safety, quality, cost, reliability and efficiency of complex manufacturing operations.
You will evaluate production equipment and processes, identify improvement opportunities, and help implement sustainable engineering solutions. This position combines hands-on manufacturing support with lean manufacturing, process improvement, equipment reliability, collaborative automation, and project execution.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent practical experience preferred.
- Experience in lean manufacturing is beneficial.
- Ability to apply structured problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and implement enhancements to complex manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Monitor performance, investigate issues, and support corrective actions to improve results.
- Lead engineering support for planning, operation, installation and maintenance of equipment.
- Apply lean principles to improve safety, quality, flow, cost and reliability.
- Assess automation opportunities and support development of collaborative robots.
- Use problem-solving and diagnostic tools to define issues and inform decisions.
- Develop project plans, estimates, schedules and status updates for initiatives.
- Provide technical direction and coaching to operations teams.
