Job description

Project Engineer
Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to lead and support the development, execution, and delivery of complex product development initiatives. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical problem-solving, product development, and project execution.

The successful candidate will possess a strong engineering foundation and be capable of driving projects from concept through commercialization while collaborating across cross-functional teams. Unlike a traditional Project Manager, this individual will actively engage with technical challenges, contribute to engineering discussions, and apply engineering judgment to help teams overcome obstacles and maintain project momentum.

This position bridges the gap between Project Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering, requiring both hands-on technical aptitude and strong project coordination capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional product development projects from concept through production and launch.
  • Develop, maintain, and drive project plans, schedules, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Participate in and support product development activities across all stages of the development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to technical discussions, problem-solving efforts, and design reviews to help remove barriers and accelerate progress.
  • Support design verification and validation activities, ensuring project requirements are met and appropriately documented.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to understand production considerations, process readiness, and execution challenges.
  • Monitor project status, identify risks, and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders and ensure alignment on project objectives, priorities, and timelines.
  • Utilize project management tools and methodologies to effectively track progress, resources, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Apply Agile and Scrum principles where appropriate to support technical development programs.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Biomedical, Industrial, or related discipline).
  • 3+ years of experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, project engineering, or a related technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, from concept through verification, validation, and commercialization.
  • Experience supporting or participating in design verification and validation activities.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and actively contribute to engineering problem-solving efforts.
  • Experience coordinating activities across multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or similar project execution methodologies.
  • Proficiency with project planning and tracking tools such as Jira, Airtable, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
  • Experience working in regulated product development environments.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes, production readiness activities, and operational execution.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or product transfer projects.
  • Proven ability to balance technical execution with project leadership responsibilities.
