Job summary

Prime Metal Buildings & Components is seeking a Production Assistant to support day-to-day operations in our manufacturing shop and steel yard. You will assist with loading/unloading materials, help operators and drivers, and ensure tools and equipment are used safely and efficiently.

Ideal candidates understand written and verbal instructions, can read a tape measure, and work well as part of a team. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and the ability to cross-train in various shop areas.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.
• Ability for cross training in other areas of the shop.
• Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in loading and unloading material from machines.
• Assist operators and drivers in the manufacturing shop and yard.
• Handle and transport materials and equipment within the facility.
• Use power tools and machinery when needed.
• Set out or put away tools when needed.
• Clean up manufacturing areas free of debris, dirt, and hazardous material.
• Follow instructions from supervisors to perform tasks.
• Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
