Job summary

BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Process Manager I to oversee plant manufacturing functions with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, efficiency and cost reduction.

You will supervise production staff and cultivate a high-performance team culture through coaching and mentoring. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, accurate reporting, and collaboration across shifts to meet weekly forecasts and ensure compliance with fabrication tolerances.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Background in steel industry with welding processes preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; able to create/manage spreadsheets and reports.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to adapt to new systems.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Detail-oriented and quality-focused.
  • Hands-on with machinery; willing to learn.
  • Team-oriented and safety-minded.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage Compass shipping, scheduling, and delivery.
  • Report on weekly forecast tons and hours.
  • Communicate quality changes, inspections, drawings, root cause and corrective action.
  • Understand tolerances and fabrication requirements.
  • Create process goals and monitor efficiency.
  • Administer inventory control.
  • Mentor new hires and employee department transfers.
  • Ensure all inspections are complete.
  • Maintain employee work schedules in payroll system.

The Manufacturing Process Manager I oversees all plant manufacturing functions and focuses on safety, quality, delivery, efficiency and cost reduction. The Manager supervises production staff and creates a successful team culture through coaching and mentoring. They are also accountable for various manufacturing key process indicators.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology and computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite; must be capable of creating and managing spreadsheets, reports, and documentation with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Have a keen eye for detail and take pride in producing quality work.
  • Enjoy hands‑on roles and working with machinery or are eager to learn.
