Job summary

BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc. is seeking a Material Handler 1 to operate forklifts and move materials within the plant and yard.

Under direct supervision, you will participate in loading and unloading activities, ensuring proper placement and documentation of materials to support production and shipping needs. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficiency, with responsibilities including basic data entry, material handling, and housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent, or attain ACT WorkKeys Assessment at certified job profile skill level
  • Preferred: 3+ months of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing or shipping environment
  • Mobile equipment certification

Responsibilities

  • Transport raw materials, supplies, products and/or finished goods to and from storage or production lines and place them in designated area.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork and transactions, including scanning requirements.
  • Perform housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

Summary of Primary Purpose of the Position

Summarize in 2 to 4 sentences the primary function and value of the position. Under direct supervision, the Material Handler 1 operates forklifts or other mobile equipment to perform routine moving, staging, loading or unloading of materials, supplies or products within or near plant, yard, warehouse or work site.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

In addition to complying with all safety, environmental, quality, and core policies, and contributing to the company’s Zero Harm and Zero Defects commitment, the following briefly describes the 3 to 6 primary activities (not all activities) that are regularly performed, and the approximate percentage of time annually devoted to each (equals 100%).

  • PercentTransports raw materials, supplies, products and/or finished goods to and from storage or production lines and places them in designated area80%

Tools Required
