Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Process Engineer in San Diego, CA to improve, design, and implement manufacturing processes. You will set up new production systems, optimize existing lines, create work instructions, and train operators.

This hands-on role collaborates with engineering, production, quality, facilities and vendors on process-improvement projects. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2+ years of production engineering experience, or 7+ years in equivalent roles; familiarity with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of production engineering experience, or 7+ years in equivalent roles.
• Mechanical and analytical hands-on experience in production or lab settings.
• Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, Lean, and Six Sigma.
• Strong communication skills and intermediate MS Office skills.
• Eligibility to work in an ITAR‑regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of manufacturing processes.
• Design, install, and validate new production tools and processes.
• Create and update work instructions and process documentation.
• Train production staff on new or updated processes.
• Perform root‑cause analysis using tools like 8D and 5 Why.
• Collect, measure, and interpret production data.
• Manage projects with limited supervision and may oversee technicians or other engineers.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, such as lockout/tagout.
