Job summary

Actalent, Whitakers, NC, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer/Process Engineer for a contract role to support documentation and reporting on new machinery and plant equipment for assembly operations. You will help ensure safe, high-quality product launches and efficient production.

You will bridge product engineering and manufacturing, guiding concepts to full-scale production while meeting cost, quality, and delivery targets.

Qualifications

• Experience logging and maintaining control plans and process documentation for regulatory and internal compliance.
• Formal training or certification in PFMEA and APQP methodologies is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and techniques, such as value stream mapping and waste elimination strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and optimize assembly processes using production system principles such as Standard Work, Flow, Pull, and Error Proofing.
• Define technical specifications for tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for engine assembly, and manage their procurement.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and debugging of new or modified assembly lines to achieve targeted performance metrics.
• Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables, including creation and maintenance of PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow diagrams.
• Plan and execute pilot builds, coordinate cross-functional support, and manage launch readiness activities to ensure successful product introduction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams in engineering, production, quality, and supply chain to resolve issues and optimize processes.
• Ensure strict compliance with established safety standards and actively promote a Zero Injury culture across the assembly operations.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean projects, Kaizen events, and systematic waste elimination efforts to enhance productivity and quality.
• Maintain and improve manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions and control plans, to support consistent and repeatable operations.
