Job summary

La-Z-Boy Incorporated in Dayton, OH, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, design, and optimize production equipment and processes. You will develop capital equipment specs, improve procedures, and support R&D with data analysis and CAD updates.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2–4 years in manufacturing. Proficiency with AutoCAD, lean methods, SPC, PFMEA, and strong writing skills are essential; travel up to 25% may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 2-4 years manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Visio.
• Excellent analytical/problem solving skills.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Knowledge of NPV and ROI for capital projects.
• Experience with PFMEA, control plans, and work instructions.
• Experience with SPC and lean manufacturing.
• Knowledge of reading part, gauge, and machine drawings.
• Familiar with VSM, DFM, DFA.
• Capitial appropriation experience and management.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to meet design specs and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with management and engineering on manufacturing capabilities and schedules.
• Develop models for alternative processes and implement improved procedures.
• Design and specify gauges, fixtures, tooling, and material handling equipment.
• Evaluate new methods, machinery, and equipment to boost productivity and reduce costs.
• Maintain CAD documentation for equipment and plant layouts and support CAD updates.
• Assist in capital projects and R&A reviews; prepare sourcing locations for tech and production placement.
• Lead cross-functional project teams and participate in vendor meetings and training.
