Job summary

La-Z-Boy Incorporated is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, manage, and support equipment, tooling, and processes in our Dayton, TN operations. You will develop capital equipment documentation, design improvements, and support R&D with new methods and technology.

The role emphasizes reducing downtime, improving efficiencies, and controlling costs through lean practices, SPC, and capital budgeting. You will travel up to 25% and collaborate across engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with AutoCAD.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Visio.
Knowledge of NPV and ROI in regards to capital acquisition and appropriation.
Experience & knowledge in defining & documenting processes including process flow, PFMEA, control plans, and work instructions.
Experience and knowledge of statistical process control.
Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and schedules to facilitate production processes.
Develop models of alternate processing methods to test feasibility and design improvements.
Coordinate the design and specification of gauges, fixtures, tooling, and material handling to support ongoing operations.
Investigate and recommend new methods and equipment to increase productivity and reduce cost.
Oversee CAD documentation for equipment and plant layouts and support capital projects.
