Job summary

La-Z-Boy Incorporated in Dayton, TN is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer II to plan, design, and optimize production equipment, fixtures, gauges, and tooling. You will create capital equipment documentation, develop new methods, and support operations on multiple projects to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, AutoCAD experience, and knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and lean manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Visio.
• Excellent analytical/problem solving skills.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Knowledge of NPV and ROI in regards to capital acquisition and appropriation.
• Experience & knowledge in defining & documenting processes including process flow, PFMEA, control plans, and work instructions.
• Experience and knowledge of statistical process control.
• Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing.
• Reading part, gauge, and machine drawings.
• Familiar with VSM, DFM and DFA.
• Knowledgeable in capital appropriation implementation and management.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
• Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
• Develop models of alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications, systems and processes.
• Coordinate the design and specification of gauges, fixtures, tooling, material handling and equipment in support of ongoing operations.
• Investigate and recommend new methods and equipment to increase productivity and reduce cost.
• Oversee design of products and systems to interface machines and provide support to R&D.
• Apply statistical methods to estimate process capabilities and analyze proposals for ROI.
• Maintain CAD documentation for equipment and plant layouts.
• Lead capital projects and sourcing decisions; travel up to 25%.
