Purpose of Role:
You will be developing and implementing process improvements for Weir ESCO’s foundry operations, primarily at our Portland, OR facility. Working collaboratively with manufacturing team members, site leaders, and global support resources, this role works to improve safety, cost, delivery and quality by identifying and prioritizing gaps and opportunities at the manufacturing site, developing and implementing improvements to address those gaps and opportunities, and documenting and communicating those solutions and their impacts to the wider organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture
Identify and prioritize gaps and opportunities at ESCO's global manufacturing sites to improve safety, cost, delivery and quality
- Using process expertise, feedback from operations teams, Design for Manufacturability concepts, work sampling, process and quality data, structured problem solving tools, measurement system analysis, and risk assessment tools to identify issues and solutions, in both new and existing manufacturing processes
- Using process maps, value stream mapping, time studies, worker and machine charts, simulation, lean concepts, or other tools and methods to evaluate existing processes and develop future state processes
- Using statistical tools and engineering methods, like hypothesis testing or control charts, to measure or detect process variation, or like Design of Experiments, to reduce process variation
- Using engineering economic analysis tools to understand the viability of potential projects and to compare alternative options
- Using industry connections and research to ideate and develop step-change manufacturing process innovations
Develop and execute projects to close the identified and prioritized gaps and opportunities
- Using internal project management structures and external project management best practices to scope lead, and complete projects
- Using industry and internal best practices to lead the design/modification, installation and commissioning of production systems, equipment, processes, and inspections
- Using Quality Function Deployment methods, FMEAs, and Control Plans to ensure systems, equipment, processes, and inspections meet quality requirements
- Using mechanical skills and internal resources to develop, design and build/modify fixturing and workstations
- Using computer and communication skills to develop and deploy work instructions for operators and maintenance teams, including support for training
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required; Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical preferred.
- At least 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
- Desire to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment supporting and collaborating with the entire production team
- Proven Ability to calculate the Return on Investment (ROI) on a process improvement concept is essential
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills, adaptable based on audience
- Ability to read and interpret product drawings and specifications, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Available for domestic and international travel as required by assignments; typically, less than 10%
