Job Description

Summary

  • Document complete process flow of new projects / components including estimated process times.
  • Generate process files needed to support manufacturing of various parts and components.
  • Perform mechanical design tasks in CAD, including drafting Solid Model parts, tooling, fixture assemblies, and drawings.
  • Provide engineering support by troubleshooting manufacturing and machining issues and implementing solutions to maintain production flow.
  • Monitor and debug new methods, equipment, and procedures to ensure system efficiencies.
  • Generate CNC programs for single & multi-axis lathes, vertical, horizontal, 4 and 5-axis machining centers with Fanuc and Siemens controls.
  • Implement self-generated programs, error-free code, and setup sheets.
  • Generate ROI calculations and present suggestions for cutting tools or workholding to supervisors.
  • Manage projects by ordering cutting tools and fixture components.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide SolidWorks and ESPRIT training and mentoring to associate engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all facets of NPI and repeat product processes.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing plans within the ERP system.
  • Review engineering documents for manufacturability and impact of changes.
  • Create Solid Models & CAD drawings for inspection, manufacturing, fixtures, tooling, and other devices.
  • Create CNC programs and process documentation.
  • Maintain communication between Engineering and Operations.
  • Support operations and engineering with technical data and feedback.
  • Assist in startup of new products and coordinate with departments.
  • Review and suggest improvements to manufacturing processes.
  • Document and communicate work procedures and standards.
  • Identify training needs and communicate to management.

Other Tasks

  • Estimate manufacturing processes and times for quoting, including DFM feedback.
  • Support customer visits with engineering expertise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree in Manufacturing Technology / Mechanical Engineering or related, or high school diploma with equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience with CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
  • 2+ years experience with CAM software (ESPRIT/MasterCam).
  • 2+ years CNC machining experience on 3-axis verticals or lathes.
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes in an ERP system.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Self-motivated, reliable, detail-oriented, team player.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and specifications.
  • Mathematical skills for cycle time calculations.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes for various materials, including aerospace parts.

Physical Demands

Ability to visit different locations, stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate equipment with good hand-eye coordination.
