The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. Consistent and accurate glucose monitoring is the foundation of any diabetes management plan, so we’re committed to continuous improvement in the way patients and professionals measure, track, and analyze glucose levels.

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will work under limited supervision. You will apply subject matter knowledge in Pharmaceutical/Biological Process, providing support to facilitate efficient operations, optimize processes, and ensure production goals are met. You will monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with Quality and R&D to integrate new products or processes. This is an onsite opportunity in Austin, TX.

What You'll Do

  • Initiate and complete technical activities to develop or improve products or processes.
  • Prepare reports, publish findings, and present results.
  • Analyze and solve complex engineering problems, applying innovative approaches.
  • Develop expertise in your field and apply it in leadership roles.
  • Incorporate business policies and understand customer needs.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Build internal and external networks to facilitate tasks.
  • Participate in training and mentoring of new engineers and staff.
  • Lead project teams, setting goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and with customers.
  • Serve as a technical consultant and spokesperson for the business unit.
  • Manage priorities and exercise judgment within defined limits.

Experience You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering/technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience in medical devices; international manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Leadership capability; Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience in a cross-divisional, enterprise environment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed, diverse environment and in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication skills for multiple organizational levels.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • Over 4 years of industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for multi-component assembly.
  • Experience troubleshooting external supplier processes.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma Green Belt and DMAIC methodology.
  • Experience documenting process changes in regulated environments.
