Job summary

Weidmann Electrical Technology AG in Urbana, Ohio is hiring a Machine Operator / Floater for rotating 12-hour shifts at our facility. You will cross-train on different components and operating positions of the paper machine, supporting production across a 24/7 rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Two years of manufacturing experience (paper mill experience preferred)
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as a ruler, tape measure, caliper, and micrometer
• Ability to read work instructions and apply them to the job
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
• Ability to train others and willingness to cross-train

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive understanding of personal and machine-specific safety
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment
• Physically inspect, communicate, and troubleshoot the quality of product and customer/order specifications
• Retrieve order specs, documentation, and order data to/from SAP
• Assist in machine maintenance and perform periodic maintenance to the machine
• Move material to and around the paper mill and stock prep area

The role…

As a Manufacturing Operator, you’ll play an important role in keeping our paper manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently. You’ll be cross trained on the different components and operating positions of our paper machine, developing the skills needed to support the entire production process. This position offers a variety of responsibilities, as you’ll move between different operating positions on the machine based on staffing and production needs. We’re looking for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, has strong mechanical aptitude, and is comfortable adapting to different responsibiltiies thorughouth their shcedule.

This position supports a 24/7 operation working a rotating 3-2-2 schedule, alternating between 2 weeks of day shift (7a-7p) then 2 weeks (7p-7a), including alternating weekends.
