Job summary

Safety Training Systems, Inc. in Tulsa, OK, seeks an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead daily production activities, manage personnel and resources, and ensure safe, on-time delivery within budget and quality standards.

You will partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and leadership to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years leading manufacturing or production operations in a project-based setting.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, labor management, and workflow coordination.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, specs, and work instructions.
  • Proven leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and lean manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee manufacturing personnel, production supervisors, and daily shop operations.
  • Monitor production performance and resolve delays, shortages, resource constraints, and other operational issues.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, contractual requirements, and quality standards.
  • Develop and enforce manufacturing procedures, operational standards, training requirements, safety practices, and employee accountability.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management to resolve technical issues, support production priorities, and reduce program risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing flow, efficiency, quality, cost, workplace organization, and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure production equipment, tools, machinery, and work areas are properly maintained, organized, and safe.
  • Support audits, customer inspections, readiness reviews, formal testing events, and production-related meetings.
  • Provide leadership with regular updates on production status, schedule performance, staffing needs, risks, and corrective actions.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead daily production activities, manage personnel and resources, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and customer requirements. This role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and company leadership to support successful manufacturing operations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor production performance and resolve schedule delays, material shortages, resource constraints, and other operational issues.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, contractual requirements, and quality standards.
  • Develop and enforce manufacturing procedures, operational standards, training requirements, safety practices, and employee accountability.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management to resolve technical issues, support production priorities, and reduce program risks.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience leading manufacturing or production operations in a project-based environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, labor management, workflow coordination, and multidisciplinary manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, specifications, work instructions, and other technical documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify production risks, implement corrective actions, and hold personnel accountable for performance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and other departments.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and workplace organization principles is preferred.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of manufacturing or production experience, including supervisory or management responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience working in a custom, low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Preferred background in aerospace, defense, aviation, simulation, training-device, or related manufacturing.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in both office and active manufacturing environments and safely move throughout production and assembly areas.
  • Ability to inspect work in progress and read engineering drawings, production documents, schedules, and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, by telephone, and through virtual meeting platforms
