Job summary

Ashland Specialty Ingredients, GP in Hopewell, VA is seeking an Operations Manager to join the site leadership team reporting to the Plant Manager. This high-visibility role oversees manufacturing operations, safety, budgeting, and strategic site planning across a 150+ person operation.

The ideal candidate has extensive manufacturing leadership experience, strong PSM knowledge, and a hands-on approach to drive continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration with quality, maintenance,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
Minimum 15 years of manufacturing experience, including site leadership of 150+ employees/contractors.
Strong knowledge of PSM programs, reaction, distillation, powder handling, and high-hazard chemicals.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results.
Experience managing bargaining unit employees and regulatory reporting (OSHA, EPA, FDA).

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe work environment and comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Develop and manage the site budget and production plan to meet objectives.
Develop and implement a strategic plan for the site balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance site profitability.
Collaborate with support functions to resolve production and quality issues and ensure on-time deliveries.
Model leadership through communication, motivation, and setting best practices.
Foster a positive team environment with collaboration and respect.
