Job summary

Sterling Engineering seeks a seasoned Manufacturing Operations Leader to drive day-to-day production across facilities, oversee safety, staffing, scheduling, quality, and financial performance. You will collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales to resolve issues, improve efficiency, and meet production goals.

The role requires strong leadership, Lean experience, budgeting and forecasting skills, and a track record of managing complex processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of manufacturing/engineering experience.
• Experience in low-volume manufacturing and managing complex processes.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing and manufacturing quality tools.
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cost control.
• Knowledge of production scheduling and workforce planning.
• Understanding of HR practices including hiring, payroll, and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily and monthly manufacturing operations to achieve production goals.
• Maintain employee safety, including training, equipment, and safety initiatives.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams for continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.
• Monitor production efficiency, resource utilization, work assignments, and staffing levels.
• Develop and implement operational policies, processes, and long-term capacity plans.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain and Purchasing to ensure materials availability for schedules.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, cost control, and capital projects with Accounting.
• Lead hiring, employee development, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
• Monitor KPIs and quality metrics, resolve quality issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to support existing customers and identify new business opportunities.
