Job summary

Sterling Engineering seeks an experienced Manufacturing Operations Leader to direct day-to-day activities across one or more facilities in Texas. You will oversee production, safety, staffing, scheduling, quality, and financial performance while coordinating with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and other teams to resolve issues and improve efficiency.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in lean manufacturing, budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning, with proven leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years in manufacturing, engineering, or related areas.
• Experience in low-volume manufacturing and managing complex business processes.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing and manufacturing quality tools.
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cost control.
• Knowledge of production scheduling and workforce planning.
• Understanding of HR practices including hiring, payroll, and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily and monthly manufacturing operations to achieve production, efficiency, and customer delivery goals
• Maintain a strong focus on employee safety, including training, equipment, and safety initiatives
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to drive continuous improvement and Lean initiatives
• Monitor production efficiency, resource utilization, work assignments, and staffing levels
• Develop and implement operational policies, processes, and long-term capacity plans
• Work with Supply Chain and Purchasing to ensure materials and components are available to support production schedules
• Manage budgets, forecasts, cost control, and capital improvement projects in partnership with Accounting
• Lead hiring, employee development, performance management, and disciplinary processes
• Monitor KPIs and quality metrics, resolve quality issues, and implement corrective actions
• Work with Sales and Customer Service to support existing customers and identify new business opportunities
