Job summary

Reading Bakery Systems in Indianapolis seeks a Manufacturing Manager to lead parts production and new baking equipment builds at our facility. This is a hands‑on leadership role with regular floor presence, reporting to the General Manager.

You will guide machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly while balancing schedules with people, materials, and capacity. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and on‑time delivery.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in industrial manufacturing with 3+ years leading production teams
• Experience in parts manufacturing and machinery assembly in high‑mix, low‑volume environments
• Ability to read engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and manufacturing specs
• Experience with production scheduling, capacity planning, and ERP/MRP systems
• Proven record of improving quality, productivity, cost, or delivery through practical problem solving
• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and accountability skills
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Lead daily production and set clear priorities across manufacturing functions
• Balance schedules and resources to keep parts orders and builds on track
• Resolve bottlenecks and coordinate recovery plans with coordinators
• Guide machining, welding, fabrication, fit‑up, and assembly; partner with Engineering to improve methods
• Build quality into processes with inspections and defect reduction
• Coach and develop coordinators; support hiring and cross‑training
• Support growth of a second shift with training and shift handoffs
• Drive safety, productivity, and cost improvements on the floor
• Collaborate with Engineering, planning, purchasing, Sales, and shipping; keep GM informed
