Job summary

McElroy Metal is seeking a Manufacturing Manager Trainee at our Bossier City, LA facility. The role supports the Production Manager, overseeing daily shop activities, meeting production deadlines, and leading the manufacturing and shipping teams.

Trainee status length depends on capability and performance. The candidate will use JDE, Lean Work Bench, and related dashboards to manage daily production, material planning, and customer service, while guiding Lean initiatives toward continuous

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma; Bachelor’s preferred for advanced opportunities.
• Must demonstrate strong leadership, coaching and communication skills.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and execute production activities.
• Ability to refine manufacturing processes for continuous improvements in quality, delivery and cost.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Utilize company software systems to support daily production, loading and customer service requirements.
• Schedule production, assign raw materials and ensure completion of production requirements.
• Maintain daily P2P productivity documentation and meet target productivity goals.
• Remain part of the leadership Safety team to ensure a safe work environment and complete safety inspections.
• Ensure start/stop times are adhered to and resources are used efficiently.
• Support Lean initiatives and help develop the Lean strategy.
• Assist in setting team goals, training, and tracking KPIs for continuous improvement.
• Oversee production employees’ development and performance, including cross-training.
• Oversee shipping to ensure on-time outbound loads and accurate fill rates.
• Empower team members to drive success and uphold Best Practice standards and housekeeping.
