Job summary

McElroy Metal is seeking a Manufacturing Manager Trainee in Clinton, IL. The role supports day-to-day shop activities, ensures production deadlines are met, and provides leadership to the manufacturing and shipping teams.

The position emphasizes leadership, lean initiatives, and continuous improvement, with trainee development based on capability and performance. Full-time role with potential growth into management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem analysis and problem-solving abilities; ability to coach others.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and execute.
• Ability to refine manufacturing processes for continuous improvements in quality, delivery and cost.
• Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment with a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day shop oversight and meet production deadlines.
• Lead manufacturing and shipping teams; provide direction and coaching.
• Utilize company software to support daily production, loading, and customer service requirements.
• Execute daily production scheduling; assign raw materials and track completion of production.
• Maintain safety, quality inspections, and Lean initiatives; drive continuous improvement.
• Develop team members, provide training, and assess performance; ensure cross-training.
