The Amazon Robotics (AR) Operations organization is Amazon’s manufacturing arm for industrial robotics. We manufacture high-quality robotics for fulfillment and transportation centers across Amazon. It’s an operation that works cross-functionally with Engineering and Supply Chain teams. We are seeking a talented, collaborative manufacturing Manager with thorough knowledge of good manufacturing practices and continuous improvement to support manufacturing in our facility in North Reading, MA.

In this role, you will lead and support a team of manufacturing associates in areas of material handling, electro-mechanical assembly, test, pack and ship. You will be responsible for engaging your team during their shifts and delivering for customers, while maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance. The company has complex products that require a detail-oriented, organized, and high-energy individual to coordinate daily production requirements and lead improvement initiatives. The successful candidate for this position will be a self-managing, action-oriented individual focused on developing and supporting a high performing team while delivering business results. This role will support our 2nd Shift team, with operating hours from 3PM to 11:30PM.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Support, mentor, and motivate production teams.
  2. Manage operations safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery expectations.
  3. Oversee daily execution of manufacturing operations to deliver performance to plan with a focus on safety and quality.
  4. Manage staffing, grow and train/develop a team of high-performing associates, while promoting a culture of inclusion, innovation and performance.
  5. Gather, trend and report process metrics/KPIs while promoting improvement initiatives from suppliers through factory.
  6. Drive efficiency and quality through process-focused approaches, process improvement initiatives and root cause/corrective action exercises.
  7. Build and manage team goals and critical metrics to ensure business success. Drive accountability with the team.
  8. Lead and implement critical business initiatives across the team.
  9. Collaborate effectively across functions with matters involving Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.
  10. Conduct employee reviews, hiring, and all disciplinary functions for the reporting team.
  11. Contribute to Operations project teams leading new product introduction and other manufacturing initiatives.
  12. Available to support team during operational hours of 2nd shift.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Management or related field.
  2. Strong leadership, interpersonal and team-building skills.
  3. 1+ years experience in manufacturing.
  4. Proactive problem-solving ability and excellent attention to detail.
  5. Direct management experience for employees and their performance.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  9. Effective coaching and mentoring skills.
  10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
  11. Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience in a complex, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  2. Experience supporting new products and product development programs.
  3. Experience with Materials Management and logistics best practices.
  4. Experience working with Oracle ERP and Agile PLM.
  5. Experience in advanced manufacturing, distribution and logistics.
  6. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and application of Continuous Improvement (CI) tools.
  7. Proficient with data collection, data analysis and use of metrics.
