Manufacturing Maintenance Technician II

JOB SUMMARY

Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on simple/manual, semi‑automated, and certain aspects of fully automated manufacturing equipment. Corrective activities include troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, controls, and electrical systems, and minor equipment performance improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform corrective maintenance activities, such as troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, controls, and electrical systems.
  • Support equipment performance improvement projects and process validation activities.
  • Contribute to process optimization and scrap reduction through equipment design improvements and maintenance procedures.
  • Independently troubleshoot equipment with a high degree of quality and reliability.
  • Implement permanent corrective actions to eliminate recurrent problems.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge through schooling, self‑study, online training, and peer learning.
  • Assist in developing the technical capabilities of less experienced technicians.
  • Learn and demonstrate proficiency with advanced maintenance practices and techniques.
  • Respond and execute work with a sense of urgency and use support systems to minimize downtime.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with company and department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate understanding and compliance with all safety requirements.
  • Work to support departmental KPIs, metrics, and objectives.
  • Complete tasks in a timely fashion and correct the first time.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May handle, collect, label, and transfer hazardous waste following established procedures and guidelines.
  • May be required to work on other shifts and be on call as needed.
  • May lead special projects.
  • Requires adherence to policies and procedures for hazardous materials, LOTO, equipment guarding, robotic safety, and biohazard.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience; 5 years preferred.

Skills

  • Proficient with tools, instrumentation, and test equipment.
  • Proficient with metric and English measurement systems.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings, flowcharts, and other technical drawings.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge concerning machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot areas beyond one’s immediate subject matter expertise.
  • Experience with RF welding theory/process, bonding, ultrasonic welding, hot plate welding, leak testing, and related processes.
  • Fluency with database and information systems as required by the department.
  • Basic understanding of complex automation processes.
  • Root‑cause analysis skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate and communicate with peers.
  • Time‑management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Action‑oriented and takes initiative to resolve emerging issues.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Professional working relationship with operations and technical teams.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Pursue internal qualification on electrical safety, RF welding, and other applicable technical skills as defined in the qualification timeline.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing environment requirements include use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, and hand/finger dexterity.

  • Must be able to work in a clean‑room environment and perform gowning of clean‑room attire within allotted time.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds and transport up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and visual acuity, including ability to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to work under fluorescent lighting.
  • Requires ability to sit or stand throughout the duration of a shift.
