Job summary

Astec is seeking a Director of Manufacturing at its Airport Road facility in Eugene, OR to lead manufacturing operations, drive safety, quality, and productivity, and oversee paint, fabrication, and assembly of heaters, tanks, piping, and accessories. You will guide management and staff, implement continuous improvement, manage budgets, and work with cross-functional teams to meet customer demands.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Engineering preferred; business degree acceptable with relevant experience.
• 10+ years in manufacturing; manufacturing engineering or CI experience preferred.
• Heavy machinery manufacturing leadership experience highly preferred.
• Experience in shop/production management, engineering, operational excellence, lean manufacturing, or related experience is required.
• Experience in heavy steel fabrication and welding methods (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW); ASME code quality preferred.
• ERP systems experience for routings, costing, and scheduling (Microsoft AX or equivalent).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work across levels within the company.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and analyze complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Direct manufacturing operations including safety, quality, delivery, and financial targets.
• Lead teams, organize structure, and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee budgeting, cost control, and capital planning.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and EHS.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet strategic objectives.
• Develop and implement technology, processes, and standard costing.
• Create and deliver production reports to executive team on a regular basis.
