Job summary

Grounded is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Detroit to own the connection between engineering and the production floor. You will translate CAD into the work instructions the floor builds from and manage the end-to-end build schedule to ensure on-time ship dates.

This role is execution-focused, not a design job. You will be on the shop floor daily, driving throughput, unblocking issues, and delivering clear manufacturing documentation while collaborating with leadership in a fast-paced startup

Qualifications

• 3+ years in manufacturing, production, or process engineering in a physical-build environment.
• Strong CAD fluency, NX preferred; ability to produce 2D drawings and work instructions.
• Relentless follow-through with daily schedule management and accountability.
• High-energy, capable of sustaining intensity and long hours.
• Excellent cross-functional communication between technicians and engineers.
• Organized with the ability to track multiple builds simultaneously.
• Startup-friendly with comfort in ambiguity and ownership of outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Be the first call for every technician question on the floor about parts, drawings, and CAD-realities.
• Create and maintain work instruction drawings from CAD (NX) for every assembly.
• Own all build schedules end to end: sequence work, set targets, track progress, and hold teams accountable.
• Run daily floor drumming: status reviews, catch problems early, escalate if needed.
• Serve as the two-way channel between engineering and manufacturing, feeding feedback into design.
• Walk the floor daily, working on-site with vehicles at the shop.
• Improve build documentation, sequences, and handoffs from engineering to floor.
