Job description

Description

The Painter Technician is responsible for preparing and painting components and parts to meet quality and safety standards for shipping. This role involves applying automotive-grade, three-part epoxy paint on assemblies, ensuring proper preparation, application, and inspection.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
  • 6 months to 5 years of painting experience, specifically with automotive-grade epoxy paints.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English, interpret documents, work instructions, and standards.
  • Proficiency with computers and data entry.
  • Knowledge of measurement tools like tape measures.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow safe work practices and disposal guidelines.
  • Handle paint storage and waste disposal properly.
  • Operate forklifts for moving large components.
  • Disassemble and reassemble paint guns, troubleshoot equipment.
  • Apply general painting practices with attention to detail.
  • Communicate issues effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Participate in quality inspections and ensure non-conforming materials are tracked.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy work environment and comply with regulations.
  • Understand equipment, standards, and manufacturing practices in relevant product areas.
  • Prepare and mix paints, apply coats, and inspect paint thickness.
  • Monitor material levels, maintain equipment, and communicate process improvements.

Level 1 Performance Expectations:

  • Load and unload powder coat line, demonstrate document reading skills, complete work timely, and follow procedures accurately.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Lift up to 60 lbs, manipulate equipment, work in fast-paced environments.
  • Stand and walk throughout the day, work indoors or outdoors, tolerate weather conditions, and work in noisy settings.
