Job description

Description

The Painter Technician is responsible for preparing and painting components and parts to meet quality and safety standards for shipping. This role requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and technical skills in painting and equipment maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant work experience may be considered.
  • 6 months to 5 years of previous painting experience, specifically mixing and applying automotive-grade, three-part epoxy paint on assemblies.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English.
  • Ability to interpret documents, work instructions, UL standards, and directions.
  • Proficiency with computers and data entry.
  • Knowledge of measurement tools such as tape measures.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow safe work practices and paint waste disposal guidelines.
  • Handle paint storage properly.
  • Operate forklifts to move large components.
  • Disassemble and reassemble paint guns; troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Apply general painting practices with attention to quality.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy work environment and comply with legal regulations.
  • Understand equipment and standards in the Generator enclosure and power switchgear areas.
  • Follow procedures for non-conforming materials and track NCRs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare, mix, and apply paint to parts and assemblies per standards.
  • Inspect paint thickness and monitor material levels.
  • Maintain and clean equipment regularly.
  • Communicate with vendors and supervisors regarding process improvements, material shortages, and equipment needs.

Level 1 Performance Expectations: Trained in loading/unloading Powder Coat Line, attentive to detail, timely work completion, knowledgeable of procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Lift up to 60 lbs and manipulate heavy equipment.
  • Operate digital and control equipment with manual dexterity.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, standing and walking throughout the day.
  • Work may be indoors or outdoors, with exposure to weather and noise.
