Job description

Description

The Painter Technician is responsible for preparing and painting components and parts to meet quality and safety standards, ensuring readiness for shipping. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and quality standards, as well as effective communication with team members and supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
  • 6 months to 5 years of painting experience, specifically with automotive-grade, three-part epoxy paints on various assemblies.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Proficiency in interpreting documents, work instructions, UL standards, and written directions.
  • Computer skills for data entry and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of measurement tools such as tape measures.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow safe work practices and environmental guidelines for paint waste disposal, storage, and cleanup.
  • Operate and maintain equipment including paint guns, pumps, booths, and forklifts.
  • Assist in troubleshooting painting equipment and systems.
  • Apply paint according to specifications, inspect coatings, and ensure proper thickness and quality.
  • Monitor and report material levels and equipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, complying with legal and company standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure product quality and process improvements.
  • Prepare and mix paints, and ensure proper application on parts and assemblies.
  • Perform quality inspections and document non-conformances.

Level 1 Performance Expectations:

  • Learn to load and unload powder coating lines.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and document comprehension.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and follow departmental procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Lift up to 60 lbs and manipulate heavy equipment.
  • Operate digital and manual equipment with fine motor skills.
  • Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Stand and walk throughout the workday; tolerate various weather conditions and noise levels.
