Job description

Job Summary

The Painter Technician is responsible for preparing and painting components and parts to meet quality and safety standards for shipping. This role requires specific skills and experience in painting and assembly processes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • HS diploma or equivalency preferred; a combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • 6 months to 5 years of previous painting experience, including mixing and applying automotive-grade, three-part epoxy paint on small and large assemblies.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English.
  • Ability to interpret documents, work instructions, UL Standards, and written directions.
  • Proficiency in using computers and entering data into databases.
  • Knowledge of measurement tools such as tape measures.
  • Basic math skills for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in various units of measure.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow safe work practices and dispose of paint waste responsibly.
  • Store paint materials properly and operate forklifts for moving large components.
  • Disassemble and reassemble paint guns, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain painting systems.
  • Apply general painting practices with attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors, and participate in quality inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to all regulations.
  • Understand equipment and standards related to Generator enclosures and power switchgear.
  • Follow procedures for non-conforming materials and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare, mix, and apply paint according to standards, inspect paint thickness, and monitor material levels.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and cleaned regularly, and communicate with vendors and supervisors for process improvements.
Level 1 Performance Expectations
  • Trained in loading/unloading the Powder Coat Line.
  • Demonstrates competency in reading documents and attention to detail.
  • Completes work timely and follows departmental procedures.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Lift up to 60 lbs and manipulate heavy equipment.
  • Operate digital equipment and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Stand and walk throughout the day, with work settings indoors or outdoors, sometimes exposed to weather and noise.
