Job summary

Groundedrvs in Detroit is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to bridge engineering and on-floor production. You will own build schedules, convert CAD to work instructions, and keep the shop moving with real-time decisions. You’ll be on the floor daily, pairing with technicians and engineers, driving throughput, and ensuring ship dates.

This role is high-intensity and central to the factory's tempo. We build modular electric platforms for specialty vehicles; you’ll be the single point of contact

Qualifications

• 3+ years in manufacturing, production, or process engineering in environments that build things (auto, RV, etc).
• Strong, current CAD fluency (NX preferred; SolidWorks/CATIA acceptable).
• Relentless follow-through and direct communication.
• High energy level with a schedule that never stops.
• Strong cross-functional communication between technicians and engineers.
• Excellent organizational capability for managing multiple concurrent builds.
• Comfort with ambiguity and owning outcomes in a startup context.

Responsibilities

• Be the first call for every technician question on the floor and provide on-the-spot answers or escalate to engineering quickly.
• Create and maintain work instruction drawings from CAD (NX) for every assembly and keep them current.
• Own all build schedules end to end: sequence work, set targets, track progress, and hold teams accountable to dates.
• Run daily floor rhythms: build status reviews, problem catching, escalation of delays.
• Act as the two-way channel between engineering and manufacturing, feeding feedback and driving fixes to closure.
• Walk the floor daily, standing beside vehicles during builds.
• Improve build documentation standards and handoffs from engineering to the floor.
