Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services is seeking an Environmental & Employee Safety Specialist to protect employees, advance environmental practices, and foster safe, efficient operations at Platte City.

You will lead development and implementation of EHS programs, perform inspections, training, incident investigations, and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements while partnering with HR and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in workplace safety, environmental compliance, or risk management.
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards and applicable environmental requirements.
• Experience conducting inspections, investigating incidents, documenting findings, and tracking corrective actions.
• Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to explain requirements clearly to employees at all levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management or reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs in coordination with the Corporate Audit & Safety Manager.
• Conduct routine facility inspections, safety audits, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments to identify unsafe conditions and work practices.
• Partner with supervisors to establish corrective actions, assign accountability, and verify timely completion.
• Support compliance with applicable OSHA requirements and company safety standards.
• Support programs addressing hazard communication, PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, welding and hot work, material handling, and powered industrial trucks, as applicable.
• Monitor changes in regulations and industry practices and recommend updates to company programs.
• Provide practical guidance to employees and management, escalating serious hazards and unresolved concerns.
