Job summary

First Solar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician I candidate to assist installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot daily issues, and drive improvements for throughput and yield.

The role requires reading schematics, interpreting drawings, and strong English communication. Travel to global locations is expected; flexibility and self-direction are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year experience as First Solar Manufacturing Engineering Technician I or 3 years First Solar Technical experience or 10 years technical experience in a Manufacturing setting.
• Associate’s degree in a technical discipline with at least 1 year as First Solar Manufacturing Engineering Technician I or 2 years First Solar Technical Experience or at least 3 years technical experience in a Manufacturing setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 0-2 year technical experience in a Manufacturing setting.
• Self-directed, ability to work with minimal supervision and lead project assignments.
• Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues and identify system improvements.
• Contribute to throughput, yield and product performance goals.
• Review data and attend factory performance meetings; schedule repairs based on tool trends.
• Travel to First Solar or vendor locations globally on project assignments.
