Job summary

First Solar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to assist in the installation and qualification of systems, troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues, and identify or implement improvements that boost throughput, yield, and product performance.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED (associates preferred), 2+ years of machine or mechanic experience, and may have prior First Solar experience or six months as a temporary technician.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• 2+ years of machine or mechanic experience.
• One year of First Solar technical experience.
• Six months’ experience as Temporary Manufacturing Engineering Technician at First Solar.

Responsibilities

• Solve day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems.
• Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements.
• Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
• Set up and maintain gauges.
• Ensure all processes are running on target per the Process Control Plan.
• Respond to SPC process control alarms and bring processes back into control.
• Execute planned process experiments and report results.
• Collect data on daily tool performance and product performance.
• Provide training to production associates.
• Develop and update internal documentation (drawings, SOPs, process specs).
• Interface with internal and supplier personnel to complete projects.
