Job summary

First Solar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to assist in installation, qualification, and improvement of systems on the production floor. You will troubleshoot manufacturing issues with a safety‑first mindset and ensure conformance to process control plans.

Ideal candidates have a technical background, strong English communication, and the hands‑on ability to work with minimal supervision while documenting procedures and training peers on best practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with technical or mechanical context.
• Associates degree in a technical discipline preferred.
• Hands‑on experience with manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Experience at First Solar or similar manufacturing environment a plus.
• Ability to document and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Solve day‑to‑day production, equipment, and process problems.
• Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements.
• Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
• Set up and maintain gauges.
• Ensure all processes run on target as defined by the Process Control Plan.
• Respond to SPC process control alarms and restore control.
• Execute planned process experiments, analyze data, and report results.
• Collect data on daily tool performance and product performance.
• Provide training to production associates.
• Develop and update internal documentation and SOPs.
• Interface with internal staff and supplier reps to complete projects.
• Develop understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
• Maintain communication with production staff and manufacturing engineers.
• Disposition non-conforming product according to criteria (NCP).
• Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Manage waste procedures and hazardous waste controls.
• Other duties as assigned and subject to change.
