Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking an Engineering Support Specialist I to join the Process Engineering team in Manufacturing Operations in West Lafayette, IN. You will perform basic testing, services, or troubleshooting under guidance from more experienced staff, collaborating across teams to improve product quality and customer support.

The role emphasizes teamwork, documentation, and a continuous improvement mindset, with travel during initial training.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of familiarity with manufacturing and engineering.
• Proficient with Windows and MS Office.
• Strong written, verbal, and documentation skills.
• Willing to learn new technologies and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Two years' experience working with SEL products is a plus.
• Experience with computer-controlled test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Providing status updates to SEL staff and customers.
• Communicating effectively with team and internal partners and customers.
• Following department processes while communicating opportunities for improvement to documentation or work instructions.
• Representing your team by participating in collaborative improvement efforts.
• Developing basic proficiency in the activities required to support one of the Operation Team's disciplines, or R&D's disciplines.
• Learning and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
