Job Description
MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR (Permanent) Our client, a global manufacturing organization headquartered in WNY, is looking to add a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor to their growing team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to a team of Manufacturing Engineers, supporting their technical and professional growth
- Create and communicate performance expectations, priorities, and accountability measures to drive team success
- Perform consistent one-on-one meetings & performance evaluations in order to create goals and offer career development opportunities
- Strengthen team capabilities through development planning, cross-functional training, and increased technical responsibilities
- Promote a culture of accountability, responsiveness, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement
- Accountable for Manufacturing Engineering performance across key metrics: scrap reduction, yield improvement, OEE, equipment downtime, process capability, and productivity
- Collaborate closely with Operations leadership to align engineering initiatives with production demands and strategic business goals
- Lead process stabilization efforts and drive improvements to enhance capabilities and ensure consistent manufacturing performance
- Conduct routine performance reviews in order to prioritize improvement opportunities, identify losses, and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Establish, maintain, and reinforce standard work practices while communicating clear areas of ownership & accountability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively resolve process failures, recurring defects, scrap, yield losses, equipment downtime, and other manufacturing performance issues
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, safety, productivity, delivery, and cost efficiency across operations
- Evaluate process variation, identify production constraints, and implement sustainable solutions to improve throughput, capacity, and operational consistency
- Support and execute initiatives involving equipment upgrades, tooling, fixtures, automation, and process optimization
- Identify cost saving opportunities and implement strategies while ensuring high standards for safety, quality, and product performance are being met
- Mentor & train engineers to independently identify, solve, and prevent manufacturing problems
- Ensure a consistent presence is felt on the manufacturing floor to provide coaching, understand operational challenges, and ensure effective execution.
- Use data to prioritize issues, balance short-term production needs with long-term improvements, and drive issues to closure.
- Communicate priorities, risks, resource requirements, and technical concerns clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Work well in a team environment as well as independently
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full-time, direct hire
- 100% in-office
- Some travel to customer sites may be required (5-10%)
- $110,000 - $135,000 annually depending on experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related
- 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role
- 2+ years’ in a leadership/supervisory role leading technical teams
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S, standard work, Etc.
- Knowledge of RTDs, sensors, thermocouples, MIMS, aerospace products, or similar is preferred
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with employees and customers
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organization skills, analytical, and time management skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Self-motivated
