Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the Manufacturing Engineering organization in a high-mix, high-volume aerospace metal-mechanics environment. The role is onsite in the greater Austin, Texas area.

The candidate will establish and execute strategies, drive improvements, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate across Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to achieve business results. Travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive Manufacturing Engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership of engineering teams and proven responsibility for manufacturing performance, technical strategy, and continuous improvement in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, ERP, MES, and manufacturing data systems.
  • Strong knowledge of PFMEA, process capability, SPC, MSA, DOE, root-cause analysis, and structured problem solving.
  • Experience with automotive or aerospace metal-mechanics components and processes, including machining, welding, assembly, chemical processing, heat treatment, and related special processes.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute the Manufacturing Engineering strategy for a high-mix, high-volume aerospace metal-mechanics environment, supporting safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, capacity, and growth.
  • Ensure alignment of product requirements, engineering specifications, manufacturing processes, technical data, and shop-floor execution to achieve manufacturing objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with NADCAP, AS9100, FAA, OSHA, environmental, and applicable aerospace quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, suppliers, and other sites to resolve manufacturing constraints and achieve business results.
  • Optimize processes, capacity, labor, equipment, tooling, cycle time, flow, and asset utilization to support production and business growth.
  • Drive improvements in process capability, variation, productivity, scrap, rework, cycle time, cost, and equipment utilization.
  • Implement and mature Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement systems, including standard work, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, PFMEA, and structured problem solving.
  • Lead manufacturing technology, automation, equipment, tooling, fixtures, and capital investments required for current and future production.
  • Establish and monitor Manufacturing Engineering KPIs and reporting to drive data-based decisions and sustained performance.
  • Ensure robust engineering standards, technical documentation, ERP/MES processes, data management, and manufacturing reporting.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness for new product introduction, engineering changes, transfers, and production rate increases.
  • Develop Manufacturing Engineering talent through technical coaching, standardization, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel up to 25%.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
