Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace in North Carolina is seeking a Senior Energetics Manufacturing Engineer to design, develop, and implement manufacturing equipment and processes for energetic production. You will lead capital projects, ensure safety and compliance, and support product manufacturability and quality.

You will mentor junior engineers and operations personnel, drive PFMEA/MRB activities, and lead Lean initiatives across work cells using 5S, SMED, Kanban, and standard work.

Qualifications

  • Degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing equipment, fixtures, tooling, processes for energetics production.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kanban, SMED, VSM) in work cells.
  • Investigate and implement new technological advances to support energetics manufacturing.
  • Develop tests to monitor process variables and ensure quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in operating production processes.

Senior Energetics Manufacturing Engineer

The Senior Energetics Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing manufacturing equipment/processes, troubleshooting production issues, and driving Lean/continuous-improvement initiatives. This individual will also lead capital equipment projects, ensure safety and compliance, support product manufacturability and quality, managing PFMEA/MRB activities, and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and operations personnel.

What You Will Do:
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing equipment, fixtures, tooling, processes, or specifications for energetics production and materials chemistry.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives of manufacturing equipment and processes in work cells utilizing lean principles such as: 5S Workplace Organization, Error Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance, Kanban/Pull Systems, Set-Up Reduction (SMED), Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, and Visual Factory.
  • Investigate and launch new technological advances in support of manufacturing energetics and related processes.
  • Develops/Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable process variables.
  • Troubleshoots and solves problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
  • Follow compliance and lead change management for manufacturing processes that may include assembly, fabrication, painting, marking, machining and welding.
  • Lead actions involving new capital equipment projects, such as writing capital funding requests, Statement of Work & Validation requirements; interface with vendors, contractors from installation through release to production.
  • Reviews and validates recommendations regarding manufacturability of existing and future products as well as advises modifications or adaptations to address quality, customer, product, or productivity constraints.
  • Create and manage programs for production equipment such as pressure test equipment, assembly or CNC laser marking machines.
  • Works with EH&S to identify and resolve ergonomic and other safety concerns specific to equipment and tools.
  • Serve as a key member for Material Review Board (MRB) to oversee relevant energetics product/material non-conformance disposition for repair, rework, or scrap to include writing procedures for repair or rework.
  • Lead PFMEA team reviews and updates for products.
  • Lead entry-level engineers, technicians, and operation team members.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or other CAD.

  • Demonstrated use of lean principles.
  • Experience with Lab View GD&T Drawing techniques.
  • Working knowledge of energetics, electromechanical assemblies and pressure vessels.
  • Experience of Military / Aerospace procedures, specifications, regulations, AS9100 Process automation.
  • Pressure systems and vessels.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Solumina.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD.
