Job summary

Schmid Tool & Engineering in Illinois seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the New Project Launch Engineers, support new product introductions, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement across production and quality operations.

The role oversees capital projects, defines technical standards, and manages a team of engineers and technicians to meet customer requirements and profitability goals. Strong leadership and Lean expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience including supervisory roles.
• Strong knowledge of part print specifications and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with heat treating, alloys, anodizing, and finishing processes is preferred.
• Proficiency in machining operations including CNC, grinders, wire EDM, and metrology.

Responsibilities

• Lead the New Project Launch Engineering department to meet customer demand and achieve profit margins.
• Oversee product launches, specification changes, and process changes.
• Define and recommend capital equipment purchases and prepare budgets and payback analyses.
• Mentor and coach New Product Launch Engineers and Technicians.
• Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
