Job summary

Summit Polymers in Kentucky seeks a Manager, Engineering (Manufacturing) to lead the manufacturing engineering team across three shifts, developing robust product designs, tooling and processes for injection molding, painting, and assembly. You will partner with plant and corporate resources to deliver programs and drive root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Strong leadership and automotive experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (related field) required.
• Five years of engineering experience in an automotive environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of injection mold design, maintenance and repair, and robotic systems desired.

Responsibilities

• Directs, prioritizes and schedules activities to meet safety, quality, productivity and delivery goals.
• Develops, validates and documents molding, paint and assembly processes and tooling.
• Leads root-cause problem solving and continuous improvement across manufacturing teams.
• Collaborates with plant lean team to eliminate waste and implement lean practices.
• Participates in program quotes and ensures machine sizes, cycle times and scrap targets are achievable.
• Reviews designs for manufacturability across molding, painting, assembly and packaging perspectives.
• Maintains PFMEAs and supports mold design reviews.
