Power & Data Management (PDM) in Houston, TX, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to establish and lead the Houston facility's manufacturing engineering function, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant production.

During startup, the role combines leadership with hands-on process engineering, production readiness, and continuous improvement while building the future engineering organization and driving lean, standard work across operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8–10 years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in a complex environment.
  • 3–5 years in engineering leadership or project leadership with cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, problem solving, standard work, capacity & cycle time analysis.
  • Ability to translate requirements into practical, safe manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Manufacturing Engineering function, set standards, priorities and staffing plans.
  • Develop and document manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions, tooling and labor standards.
  • Lead production-readiness activities ensuring materials, tooling and training are in place before production.
  • Bridge Product Engineering and Manufacturing for DFM/DFA, BOM/routing alignment, and handoffs.
  • Coordinate implementation of engineering changes in BOMs, routings, and processes.
  • Provide hands-on technical production support and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Drive lean continuous improvement, capacity analysis, line balancing, and standard work adoption.

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will establish and lead the Manufacturing Engineering function for the Houston facility, ensuring products can be manufactured safely, efficiently, consistently, and in compliance with engineering, quality, customer, and regulatory requirements.

During startup, this role will combine manufacturing engineering leadership with hands‑on process engineering, technical production support, production readiness, and continuous improvement while building the future engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and lead the Manufacturing Engineering function, including standards, priorities, technical methods, staffing needs, and future organizational capability.
  • Develop, optimize, and document manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions, tooling, fixtures, labor standards, process controls, and standard work.
  • Lead production‑readiness activities to verify that documentation, materials, tooling, equipment, inspection/testing requirements, and operator training are in place before production release.
  • Serve as the technical bridge between Product Engineering and Manufacturing, supporting DFM/DFA, design reviews, BOM/routing alignment, and engineering‑to‑manufacturing handoffs.
  • Coordinate manufacturing implementation of engineering changes, ensuring approved changes are reflected in BOMs, routings, work instructions, tooling, fixtures, and production processes.
  • Provide hands‑on technical production support, troubleshoot recurring issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, and partner with Production, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Operations leadership.
  • Lead manufacturing continuous improvement, capacity analysis, line balancing, layout development, productivity improvement, and sustained adoption of lean practices and standard work.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8–10 years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience, including process development, manufacturing documentation, engineering changes, and production support in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • 3–5 years of engineering leadership or project leadership experience with demonstrated ability to establish priorities, lead cross‑functional technical work, and build manufacturing capability.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, structured problem solving, standard work, capacity analysis, cycle‑time analysis, labor standards, PFMEA, control plans, and process controls.
  • Ability to translate engineering requirements, drawings, specifications, BOMs, and customer/quality requirements into practical, safe, repeatable manufacturing solutions.
Nice To Have
  • Experience with power transformers, distribution transformers, electrical equipment, circuit breakers, switchgear, substation equipment, heavy electrical equipment, or engineered‑to‑order manufacturing.
  • High‑mix / low‑volume manufacturing experience, large or heavy assembly experience, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, PMP certification, or formal project‑management experience.
  • Experience with ERP, BOM, routing, CAD, manufacturing‑analysis systems, manufacturing startups, new facility launches, production ramps, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
