Job summary

AAF International in Washington, NC seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support manufacturing processes and Lean initiatives. You will work with experienced engineers on projects to improve efficiency, quality, and reliability in a real-world setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, principles, and methodologies is a plus.
• Prior internship or coursework experience in manufacturing or engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Production Processes: Assist in analyzing manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to production metrics, including throughput, cycle time, and yield, to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to conduct root cause analysis of defects and develop corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen events to streamline processes and drive operational excellence.
• Equipment Maintenance: Work with maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance tasks, and ensure equipment reliability to minimize downtime.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and project updates. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Cross‑functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including production, engineering, quality, and supply chain to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
