Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Intern to rotate through production environments, supporting tooling, fixtures, and workstation development. You’ll work with cross-functional teams on process improvements, time studies, and plant layouts to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

Open to students pursuing Mechanical Engineering or related fields, located at Byesville, OH or other DTNA sites.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or higher or recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date.
  • Must be part of a Co-Op Internship program through your current college/university.
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • Ability to read and create electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Competency in Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD and NX.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, machining, fabrication, and assembly operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and design tooling, fixtures, and workstations to support manufacturing needs and process improvements.
  • Conduct industrial engineering activities, including time studies, plant layouts, ergonomic assessments, and workstation development.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, vendors, and leadership on product specifications and process enhancements.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques to analyze production issues and develop practical solutions for implementation.
  • Support engineering activities related to plant layouts, equipment verification, precision machining, and gauging.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including routings, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Perform Gage R&R studies, machine qualifications, and statistical analysis to support quality and process performance.
  • Develop an understanding of manufacturing processes and fuel system products through hands-on collaboration with production teams.
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives through workshops and process projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve plant objectives with safety and operational excellence.
