Job summary

Daimler Truck North America LLC is seeking an Engineering Co-op Intern to gain hands-on experience at our Byesville, OH site. You’ll support plant operations, tooling design, and Lean initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams across manufacturing and engineering.

The role offers exposure to machine design, fabrication, plant layouts, and process documentation, with potential transition to a full-time position depending on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or higher or recently graduated within 1 year of start date.
• Must be part of a Co-Op Internship program through your current college/university.
• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Engineering, or similar discipline.

Responsibilities

• Draft and design tooling, fixtures, and workstations to support manufacturing needs and process improvements.
• Conduct industrial engineering activities, including time studies, plant layouts, ergonomic assessments, and workstation development.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, vendors, and leadership on product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and process enhancements.
• Apply problem-solving techniques to analyze production issues and develop practical solutions for implementation.
• Support engineering activities related to plant layouts, equipment verification, precision machining, and gauging.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including routings, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Perform Gage R&R studies, machine qualifications, and statistical analysis to support quality and process performance.
• Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and fuel system products through hands-on collaboration with production teams.
• Support innovation, machine design, fabrication, and continuous improvement initiatives through Lean activities and process enhancement projects.
