Job summary

WestRock Company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Summer Intern/Co-op for 2027 across Smurfit Westrock paper mill facilities in the U.S. This paid, full-time internship runs May 2027 through August 2027 and offers hands-on experience in large-scale industrial environments, working with operations, maintenance and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited engineering program pursuing a degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Paper Science/Engineering, or related discipline.
• Able to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Commit to a full-time co-op duration as specified.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering fundamentals to real-world manufacturing challenges.
• Analyze operational data and present findings to engineering and plant leadership.
• Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Follow and promote all plant safety rules and best practices.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, EHS, and engineering teams.
• Manage day-to-day activities of assigned roles and complete project tasks.
