Job summary

WestRock Company is offering a Manufacturing Engineering Fall Intern/Co-op (2027) across Smurfit WestRock paper mill facilities in the U.S. You will gain hands-on experience applying engineering fundamentals to large-scale industrial systems and work with operations, maintenance and engineering teams.

The program focuses on safety, productivity, and cost reduction, preparing you for full-time roles in manufacturing or process industries.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited engineering program (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Paper Science or related).
• Able to work in an industrial manufacturing environment and adhere to safety rules.
• Available for the full term of August 2027 to December 2027 (40 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering fundamentals to real-world manufacturing challenges.
• Analyze operational data and present findings to plant leadership.
• Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, EHS, and engineering teams.
• Assist in project tasks and implement new processes.
