Job summary

IDEX Corporation in Cedar Falls, IA invites a current student pursuing a bachelor’s in engineering to join as a paid full-time co-op/intern from January 2027 through August 2027. The role focuses on Safety, Continuous Improvement, Lean and 80/20 across machine shop and foundry operations.

You will collaborate on cross-functional projects, develop standard work, support Lean events and drive manufacturing improvements, with exposure to CAD software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Technology.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable with 3D CAD software.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 in Major preferred.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under general direction, participate in and/or lead support projects related to Safety, Continuous Improvement, Lean, and 80/20 across a variety of functions in our Machine Shop and Foundry facilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Technology.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable with 3D CAD software.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 in Major preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
• Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
• General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
