Job summary

Insight Global is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to provide primary technical support for the production of wire and die bonders. You will quickly resolve production issues, develop technician problem-solving capability, and maintain manufacturing documentation and methods to keep Design Engineering focused on development and field support.

The role emphasizes rapid issue resolution, process improvement, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to sustain throughput and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial, or related).
  • 2–5 years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience in precision electro-mechanical or capital-equipment environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems under production pressure.
  • Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation and ERP methods (Epicor preferred).
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and structured problem-solving methods (5-Why, 8D, fishbone).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; 3D CAD experience (Creo preferred) is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to train and influence technicians while maintaining production discipline.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for production personnel building wire and die bonders.
  • Diagnose and resolve electro-mechanical, process, tooling, and documentation issues on the floor in real time.
  • Manage multiple concurrent production issues without allowing any single issue to stall builds for extended periods.
  • Determine escalation thresholds and route only those issues that truly require Design Engineering resources.
  • Protect production throughput by ensuring technicians receive timely, effective support rather than developing ad-hoc workarounds.
  • Train production technicians on proper troubleshooting methods, process discipline, and equipment fundamentals.
  • Build technician problem-solving capability so that routine issues are handled on the floor without constant Manufacturing Engineering intervention.
  • Conduct structured training sessions and create supporting materials that reduce the ongoing pull on Manufacturing Engineering time.
  • Create, revise, and maintain Manufacturing Instructions, assembly procedures, test procedures, and Epicor methods of manufacture.
  • Generate and process redlines to control documents promptly so that the floor always works from current, accurate information.
  • Establish and maintain optimum production methods, standards, and tooling for bonder and oven assembly.
  • Lead or support root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions on quality and process issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on cycle time, first-pass yield, cost, and manufacturability of wire and die bonders.
  • Provide structured feedback to Design Engineering on design-for-manufacturability opportunities and recurring issues.
  • Support supplier outreach on component quality, cost, and lead-time issues that affect production.
  • Implement and sustain visual management, 5S, and other lean practices on the manufacturing floor.
  • Track and improve relevant KPIs (downtime related to process/method issues, training effectiveness, first-pass yield, etc.).
  • Participate in design reviews and NPI activities with a focus on production readiness and cost-effective assembly.
  • Assist with tooling development and evaluation of electro-mechanical designs for manufacturability.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
