Job summary

Sterling St James LLC in the southwest Atlanta area is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize manufacturing processes at a plant site. The role focuses on maximizing efficiency by evaluating equipment layout, workflow, and workforce utilization, and by defining tooling and work instructions.

The ideal candidate has a BA/BS with at least 3 years in manufacturing engineering, experience with SolidWorks and tooling, and hands-on automation experience including robotics and PLCs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, or relevant combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• Proficient in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office.
• Must have tooling experience.
• Some project management experience required.
• Automation experience including robotics and PLCs.
• Experience as a manufacturing engineer in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Authorization to work in the USA without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design production tooling using 2D/3D software such as SolidWorks.
• Implement productivity improvements on current lines.
• Perform root cause analysis using statistical methods.
• Design and implement production processes for new/changed products.
• Perform FMEAs on products and processes.
• Review designs for manufacturability and optimization.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to improve productivity.
• Apply design of experiments and lean manufacturing concepts.
• Conduct design review meetings for new/existing products.
• Create work instructions, SOWs, and inventory control.
• Support automation, robotics, vision systems, controls integration, end-of-arm tooling, fixturing, gauging, machine design.
