Job summary

Magna Powertrain in Indiana is seeking an engineering professional to support routine assignments, design calculations, and process documentation for high-volume manufacturing. You will work with cross-functional teams to improve capabilities, document control plans, and assist with new product launches.

Qualified candidates have 2–5 years in manufacturing, familiarity with CNC, CAD AutoCAD, and quality standards, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline, or significant related technical experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2.
  • Basic understanding of CNC programming and manufacturing automation.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and certification processes (QS-9000, IATF 16949, ISO).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software (AutoCAD) for creating sketches, drawings, and technical illustrations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience supporting plant startups, new product launches, and high-volume manufacturing operations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and APQP process is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare routine engineering assignments, simple plans, designs, calculations, and reports to support manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct basic technical surveys, inspections, and assist in documenting findings.
  • Support process documentation, including control plans, reaction plans, PFMEAs, and update documents as new models are introduced.
  • Assist Supplier Quality and Manufacturing during ongoing production of new products and critical periods.
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, maintenance, and production staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and operational considerations for a three-shift facility.
  • Apply basic statistical methods to evaluate machinery and process capability.
  • Utilize formal problem-solving techniques (8-step, DOE, mistake-proofing) to identify issues and recommend corrective actions through designated channels.
  • Support CNC program edits and troubleshoot basic programming issues as required.
